What it is
Cozy Launcher is a small, free Windows program that sets up and keeps up to date a single shared Minecraft: Java Edition modpack for a private group of friends. You sign in with your Microsoft account and press Play; it takes care of the rest: the right version of Java, the right amount of memory, the game itself, the mods, and every update.
Free It is made as a hobby, not for profit. It is not sold, has no ads, and has no tracking.
How it works
- Install it (no administrator rights needed).
- Sign in with Microsoft. This is required: it confirms you own Minecraft: Java Edition and lets you join online servers. You sign in on Microsoft's own web page using a short code, so the launcher never sees your password. You do this once; the launcher remembers you.
- Press Play. The first time, it downloads the game directly from Mojang's own servers, plus a private copy of Java and the modpack.
- Stay current. Each time you press Play it checks for a newer modpack, and for a newer launcher, and updates itself.
What it respects
- It does not contain or redistribute Minecraft. The game, its libraries and its assets are downloaded from Mojang's servers and checked against Mojang's published checksums. The game files are left unmodified.
- You need your own copy of Minecraft: Java Edition, and you sign in with the Microsoft account that owns it. It is a paid game.
- Your files stay yours. Updates only ever remove files the launcher itself installed. Your worlds and settings are never touched.
- Privacy: no analytics and no data collection. See the privacy page.
Who it's for
Cozy Launcher is made for one private group of friends playing one shared modpack. It is not a general launcher and is not offered as a public download. If you were invited to the group, you already have the installer. You will need a Microsoft account that owns Minecraft: Java Edition.
Looking for a general-purpose Minecraft launcher? Several excellent ones exist, for example Prism Launcher.
